1. ENC-E4 Runs Warm

The unit's housing is designed to be a heat sink and the unit may run warmer than expected which is as designed. Normal operation will not be impeded.

However, we have run into (2) issues that have caused problems with either the ENC-E4 or other components:

1. STACKING MULTIPLE UNITS ON TOP OF EACH OTHER

Unless you are deploying the ENC-E4 units in a room with monitored temperature controls, it is not recommended that you stack multiple units on top of each other. This has proven to cause an overheat issue with a small number of units which lead to inadvertent product disconnect.

The recommended mounting technique is to:

1. Use the standard supplied 'mounting ears' that allow you to mount separately to a wall

2. Place the units horizontally on a tray or shelf side by side

If you must stack your units. please use a non-flammable spacer of about 1" in between each unit to allow appropriate airflow for cooling.

2. PLACING UNITS IN ENCLOSED HOUSINGS

If you plan to to deploy the ENC-E4 units in enclosed housings with no ventilation (example: Small Outdoor NEMA enclosures) be aware that they run warm and have a very high heat threshold that may interfere with other less tolerant devices in the same enclosure (modems, switches).

It is not recommended that you stack the ENC-E4 on another device or vise versa.

2. How Do I Reset Encoder to Factory Reset Without Losing My Network Settings

Open an internet browser and type in the following syntax into the address bar:

http://encoder ip address/enc-cgi/admin/factorydefault.cgi

*insert the encoders ip address - example: 10.92.0.10
